I drafted this comic out a long time ago. Im not sure what exactly I was trying to say back then, I think my angle on the idea has shifted slightly since then. Took a swing at it anyway.

me and cameron were walking to walmart and talking about self respect and picking fights. I think violence is under-valued in our culture. Its glorified in media and military, but thats not the same as valued. The distinction is similar to women being glorified in sports illustrated, but not exactly valued. get it? mmmaybe?
And I dont know about the rest of you, but I've been trained to run away from conflicts with strangers. While this strategy is doubtlessly the smarter option, Im convinced that it subtracts from our self-worth. And no, Im not saying we should beat everyone up to make ourselves feel good. But standing your ground is important, despite what the consequences could be. We're all awesome, respect yo-self. Could mean a black eye, could mean wasting ten minutes in a petty shouting match. Its better than staring at your shoes and avoiding the situation.

holy smack whatthefuck am I going on about?

like I said, Im not sure what this comic is about, dosnt really hava point. But it looks nice, I rather like it.

Cameron is a cool cool brother
I should probably be locked up

I can't agree with you anymore. My church and even my MMA teacher tried to preach to me about pacifism when I was younger. I quit both, and understand a few things about what it means to defend oneself soon after. Rather bloodied mouth than a bloodied soul.

Found this comic today, and read it in four hours, and it awesome! It's kinda inspiring, makes me want to draw random stuff and it takes a man to be able to post a comic like this with all this honesty and such. Oh and Orange!

I agree with you, sir. Whole heartedly. It is very difficult to NOT want to defend yourself or the ones you really care about. I used to be a pacifist but I can't do it, especially when I see one of my gay friends being beaten up at school. To get specific.

...aaand I'm caught up again.

I like this one, it's got Calvin & Hobbes vibe to it (which I think I've said about your work before).

Pacifism isn't a good reason not to pick fights with people.

Laziness is though.
Also possible jail-time. Not big on that.

Why would you regret avoiding conflict with an asshole who can beat you up? Unless you live in a society in which fighting is seen as honorable. No matter how puritan your soul is, you'd end up thinking cowardice is the opposite to violence. But it's not like that really. It's a cultural perspective. For some people, running away is not a sign of cowardice, but of intelligence.

I'm really, really sad to say that I've seen it a number of times in Atlanta, and it SUUUUUUCKS. I saw it in high school, too and it SUUUUUCKED. I think other places are more tolerant, or the kids are a little dumber down south, but I've never been anywhere BUT down south for very long.

I shrug at the notion.

I've got a good fight in me when I need to.

"I'll take scars over regret any day of the week." That will stick with me forever.

I ain't gonna fight over shit I don't care about but you can be damn sure I'll fight till I'm dead for the stuff I love.
