Me and Sindri resolved to stick to our own practices, but it gave me some good perspective. I've been chewing on this idea off and on since it happened somewhere around a year ago. year and a half? damn, but recreating it in the comic makes me see more sense from Sindri's side of things. Hardwork and Independance are good things. But love and generosity seems like a whole different level. I want to believe that they can realistically take a place in the applications of life. But when I see people trying to use love and generosity to solve problems and ultimately failing to make a difference, the outcome leaves me very disenchanted.
Martin Finnegan said "..If you can't come in from the cold, then you gotta grow ice over your heart." And that always gave me the willies. I don't want to become so jaded that I'm left cold and bitter and harsh.. looking at this conversation, and re-hearing my words on it makes me worried about how narrowly I might be walking that line.
Bah, I don't know anything. But now that that is over we can get on with enjoying the rest of Asheville, NC. Yup, that's something we can do.

AndrewSindri is either hella strong or hella naive
I'll die if I get any more disenchanted

Life is complicated, I get by with the notion that it doesn't matter to me and when I'm asked to take the spotlight I make it my mission to be a positive influence. I can still be my selfish self but, in the long run I end up being an example of how people should handle conflict or sometimes I screw up and it's my statement to own up to it and grow from it.

But in the long run, stealing from corporations compared to begging for white boxes seems a lot more fun.

I can't understand why it must be one pair or the other. Why not the four of them? Or add something else if you wish. Or even an opposite from time to time. Life seems quite limited when you look at it from a limited perspective. Dignity is a hell lot more complex than that.

I see what youre saying. I think Andrew was looking more at some of the more pronounced facets by which we find our self worth. It's not limited to those two qualities, but they do define our dignity significantly.
And it probably does deserve a longer explanation. In my attempts to be concise maybe I made it too limited :/
