april 2012

everyone jumped in their cars and got the fuck outta there. Naz and I had a rushed goodbye in the middle of the confusion and then I rode home, slept for about three hours, and got on a bus for portland. As the bus rode west I marinated in a giant cocktail of existential satisfaction and sentimental happy/sadness. I felt whole and full and that's where I'm closing it.

The adventures never stopped, I've been hitching and farming and fighting and learning and growing and drawing and drawing and drawing ever since. But we've all had enough of this real-life-junk by now. I've got other stories to share, plus it's high time i stopped talking so much about myself, it's rude.

I'd like to give my thanks to everyone that was involved in my life over the course of these comics. You're all so neato and peculiar and I take enormous amounts of inspiration from you all. I'd list all your names, but it'd be very long and i'd inevitably forget a few. I'd also like to thank my readers, new and old, for your patience as i explored the medium of sequential art, for the indulgence of your comments/reposts/faves/follows/likes, for your encouragement, your support, and just thanks for reading. I've been sortof vulnerable with you all, and you've been entirely gracious. There was never a more spectacular audience and i'm profoundly grateful to have had such a pleasant lot to entertain. I'm not sure what comes after this, maybe a story with a more likeable protagonist or a more imaginative story archs.. who knows.

I'd ramble on, but i've already said far more than my share.

AndrewSindri made a handsome gettaway driver. if anyone's planning a robbery or an assassination or something, i would highly recommend him
Naz gave me my colors, I owe him very much
I still love orange. even after all these years.

Wow, so it's really over?

Well, I guess I just want to say that this has been probably the best webcomic I have ever read (seriously, it is). The writing is honest, funny, and even touching at times. The artwork is superb. You have truly inspired me in so many ways, both as a creator and an audience member. There are times when I would pull up a page and just stare at it, trying to figure out how it could be so good. Well, I still haven't figured it out, and I probably never will.

So yeah, all gushing aside...

Thanks for the adventures Jonas.

My favorite comic I've ever read, Jonas. It truly changed the way I look at life in some ways. So I can't thank you enough for letting us join you on your adventure.

Man, I'll miss this thing.

But by other stories to tell, do you mean other comics? If your samurai space punks short was anything to go by, I'd actually be more excited for that than sad about the end of this one.
uradhere 17th Feb 2014, 12:29 PM edit delete reply
yeah! like those things! I'm more excited for those too

Thanks for the comic, man. Thanks to you I know that it's possible to live a life that doesn't suck. What's more, you said it that in an entertaining, funny and visually beautiful way. You're the closest thing I've ever had to a role model. Thanks again for telling your story; I'll stop being a kiss-ass now.

Also, if you ever printed and sold AOJ, I'd throw money at you faster than you can say "photoshop comic journal". Just saying.

800 years ago witch cursed me with immortality until i completed the adventures of jonas comic. So i think i might die now and join all my loved ones in the world beyond.
or maybe i'll make another comic. who knows. Stoked readers like you have been a huge incentive for making comics, so thanks very much for that :) it's been a pleasure

Damn, man. I started reading your comic around the time you put the 50th one out. I found it through reddit, and I read ever since. You've helped me through some pretty hard times.

There will forever be a Jonas-and-his-comics shaped hole in my heart. Unless you start another comic, at which point, the hole will be filled again until that comic ends, so be sure to post your work and all that good shit on the facebook page or something so we can see it.

Thanks for all of this. All of it is fantastic.

Dude, I dig your comic so hard. I found it I don't know how long ago and I've read through it I don't know how many times. You've influenced me hugely personally and artistically, to the point where a someone could recognize it from never talking before. Thanks for the ride, I look forward to your future work!

I read through this comic in less than two days and it's changed my outlook on things.
That's pretty freakin' cool.
I hope you realize that even with all your messups and weirdness and deviations from the norm, you're such an incredible inspiration. Maybe those things are why you're an inspiration. I dunno. You just /are/.
So thanks for the adventures, man. I sat on my laptop for a few hours and traveled the world and back. It was incredible.

Dude. Thanks so much for sharing all of your crazy stories with us. When a chill barista at Peak Place told me about this comic I didn't think to much of it. Now I binge read all of it. Makes me feel all fuzz inside that there's Coloradans here in the springs throwing crazy dances while I'm 20 minutes away tops chillin. Makes me want to get my friends and start beardances.
